This novel is a celebration of life and human commitment. The hero had decided to start a new life as a farmer, moving to one of Indonesia’s outer islands as part of the government’s transmigration program. His almost futile efforts then brought him to meet various madmen—bureaucrats, bandits, psychiatrists, religious teachers, and a beautiful woman known only as the VIP.
