Umar Kayam

The author of a large number of books in different styles and genres, Umar Kayam had gained a highly-deserved reputation as the voice of the common people. His books include anthologies of short s tories, essays, novels, and also stories for children. In 1967, his short story A Thousand Fireflies won the Horison Literary Prize, and in 1987, he was a recipient of the SEA Write Award.
