YB Mangunwijaya

Yusuf Bilyarta Mangunwijaya (Y.B. Mangunwijaya), a noted architect and novelist, was also known for his deep rooted humanism. In 1992, he won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for his housing design for rural migrants living on the banks of the Code River, and in 1996, he won the Ramon Magsaysay literary award. He was renowned for his wit and his easy going personality.
