Ratih Kumala received a degree from the English Department of the University of Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. She is the author of Tabula Rasa, Genesis, and Batavia Chronicles, as well as the short story collection Dusk. She lives in Jakarta with her husband, writer Eka Kurniawan, and their daughter Kidung Kinanti.
